Two European governments, Switzerland and Germany, put their nuclear power plans on hold Monday as explosions at nuclear facilities in Japan raised concerns about safety.
The Swiss government suspended plans to build and replace nuclear plants on Monday, becoming the first government in Europe to take such measures. The German government followed suit a short time later, temporarily halting plans to extend the life of its nuclear power plants.
